Our next-door neighbor knocked on our door at 10 p.m. the other night to borrow our phone. Her fiancé had hit her and left with their only cell phone, and they had no land line.
An officer came up to get a police report. I held her 2-year-old son on my lap as she filled it out. The little fellow happily scribbled away on a note pad as I held him in my lap. He is the sweetest little boy, with huge brown eyes and a dimpled smile. Their 5-month-old twins were asleep in their apartment.
The fiancé was arrested, spent one night in jail, and given a no-contact order against her and the children. This wasn't the first incident. Right now she's trying to get the order dropped so he can come home.
I want to get to know her better and be her friend. Since they moved in in February, we haven't really gotten to know them because we have been out of town so much. A week before this incident, we had invited them over for dinner, but they had canceled last minute.
I pray that this would be a chance for us to extend friendship and love toward her and the children. We gave the 2-year-old a Lamb book the other day. He can't read yet, but maybe she'll listen to the CD with him. We only have a little time left here, but please pray that we'll be faithful witnesses and that she'll come to know the Savior one day.

I prayed just now that you'll be a good witness. God bless!
I hope packing will go well too.
I head out to SK and ON starting a week from today. Once I get back I'll have to start packing some too, I guess.
