Camping fun!

We went camping with our boss Russ and his wife Karyn at Glacier National Park in Montana from July 13-15. It was to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary (July 12) and our first (July 16)! We had sooooo much fun and the scenery was just beautiful. Thanks, Russ and Karyn!

Celebrating 20 years. Congratulations!

From the overlook on the Hidden Lake hiking trail. The scenery along this trail was just gorgeous, like it came straight out of a Rockies hiking guidebook!

Even billy goat gruff can't get over how beautiful it is from up here.

This cute little "kid" and his momma were on the trail with us and they didn't seem to mind us at all. In fact, we saw lots of mountain goats roaming around humans on the trail. We also saw a few big horn sheep and deer. No bears, though! (The warning signs at the start of each trail kind of made me nervous: "You are entering bear country. There is no guarantee for your safety." We brought bear spray with us just in case. Good thing we didn't have to use it!)

St. Mary's Lake and its deep turquise waters from glacial runoff. The picture doesn't do it justice.

We were told that we would be cooking "real" camping food. What a treat we got! Potatoes, hamburger meat and vegetables wrapped in foil and cooked right in the camp fire. Eggs, sausages and hash browns for breakfast. Shish kabobs and baked potatoes the next day. We'd never had such gourmet camp food in our lives. We learned a lot about cooking and camping, too!

Chef Russ

Fancy bumping into our friends Sean and Vince from Chicago at Glacier! They came over for dinner and roasted smores with us. After camping, they stopped over to visit us in Coeur d'Alene on their way to Seattle. (Our hammocks and tent--affectionately named the Taj Mahal--are in the background in this picture.)

Memories...

The last time we went camping, we weren't dating yet. It was three years ago that we went to Black River Falls, Wisconsin, with eight other NU friends. That was loads of fun too. There were some pretty interesting and funny scenarios. The very next day after we got back from camping, things started happening. (We told Russ and Karyn the rest of our story around the campfire.) There's just something about camping...!
