Spring break "retreat"

Over spring break we went with our Friday night English conversation group to a campsite in Tyler, TX for a three-day "retreat." Actually, it wasn't really a "retreat" because only the organizers were believers. So it was more of a "Gospel camp" for the international students in our English group.

Over the past year, we built friendships with and shared the Gospel with these international students. We presented different aspects of the Christian worldview to them during discussions in our English meetings. Last summer, we went through the Stranger on the Road to Emmaus video with two of the students. Recently, some of them have been attending a seekers' Bible study. Although none of them have become believers yet, some are seriously seeking.

Four of these students came with us to camp. During camp, we took a more "in-your-face" approach and pushed them to think about the most important decision in their lives. They were engaged and asked good questions. We gave them the opportunity to sit for a time of silence and write out what is hindering them from believing Christ. They were honest in their answers and it seems like it's only a matter of time right now.

Today Yen-ling, our sister and co-organizer of the Friday night outreach group, told us that she had a long conversation with one of the girls after the retreat. Yen-ling wanted us to know that the retreat had an impact on that student and that "our work was not in vain." We will be following up more with these girls in the next few weeks. We know that it is not our job to convert people; it is in God's hands. Yet, we need to be diligent in prayer for them. Please pray with us for these four girls: J, S, D and E.

P.S. Pregnancy update: 50 days left until the due date! You can tell in the picture that I have definitely ballooned. So far everything is going smoothly... I thank God that I can still go on retreats like this and go to class, teach my ESL class, etc. Please also continue to pray for the health of the baby! Thanks!
