Another month has flown by. With school in full swing, we have been busy, but we are enjoying ourselves. It is definitely tough going to school with a baby, and there are good days as well as bad days, but God has been gracious thus far. We are learning to take it one day at a time.
Evan is growing day by day. His motor skills have definitely developed: He can now roll over from front to back and back to front and grab things with much more precision, pulling them toward himself. He is very alert and curious, noticing things and sounds around him a lot more (which makes one very distracted eater!). He is also more social and can play "games" with Mommy and Daddy. He smiles at everyone who talks to him. Recently, he learned to stick his tongue out too :P
He is still drooling like crazy but has no teeth yet. He hasn't started solids yet--that will have to wait until next month, according to our pediatrician.
His sleep schedule is pretty much the same, although right now he only sleeps through the night about half of the time. Other times he wakes up once between 2 and 5 a.m. for a feeding. Mommy wonders if he's really hungry when he wakes up, but she doesn't know what else to do to make him go back to sleep... any suggestions?
Evan also survived his first time being sick with a cold. He had a stuffy nose and a cough and did not do so well with nursing, but recovered in about a week. Mommy caught the cold from him and was sick that week too, but Evan slept a lot that week so Mommy was able to nap as well :) The following week, Daddy caught the cold. Oh well! We learned to be thankful for the times we're not sick, and not to take our health for granted.
In September, we were able to go on a 3-day retreat with our church in Waxahachie, about 40 minutes from Dallas. Having made the trip to Austin last month, we were more prepared to travel with Evan. Evan did so well! The childcare workers said he was the most well-behaved baby in the nursery, and he rarely fussed even though he missed some naps. Good job, Evan! Mommy and Daddy were able to enjoy some good fellowship and teaching at the retreat, and Daddy served as a translator for the speaker.
Please continue to pray for our family, our health, our studies, and future direction. Thank you!
