What "transportation" means in India... (photos courtesy of John K.)

Traffic jams and lots of honking...

Ladies in saris sitting regally on the back of motorbikes without even breaking a sweat...

"Auto-rickshaws" weaving in and out of traffic...

Man-powered rickshaws...

Fuel efficient rickshaws...

And plenty of ox-drawn, horse-drawn or donkey-drawn carts.

And this is how we traveled!

We made the one-hour commute to and from the seminar hall every day in this 9-seater van. Two (including the hired driver) sat in front, three sat in the middle and three sat in the back. Any luggage got tied to the rack on top of the van. It was snug, but comfy.
