Since we arrived in Singapore a few days into the Chinese New Year, we were just in time for all the festivities. It was especially fun for us, because we hadn't had a proper Chinese New Year celebration since we left home for college many years ago.

We were privileged to be invited to a traditional Chinese New Year meal with NTM Asia folks.

This is a Singaporean invention called "lo hei" (
mixing joy in Cantonese, I assume). It's a salad with raw fish, chopped veggies and noodles. You grab as much as you can with your chopsticks, raise it up as high as possible, and let everything drop back onto the dish (and all over the table!).

Ok, we couldn't resist striking a cheesy Asian pose in this cheesy Chinese frame. (Notice the construction going on behind us. They say that in Singapore, the national bird is the
crane -- you see them everywhere!)
