...And all these things will be given to you as well

This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

God’s miraculous provision didn’t stop at the apartment. He gave us a free washer and dryer, both in great condition!

It “so happened” that our co-workers Faith and Lloyd were standing next to their friend Gene at church the other day when they looked at the bulletin board, on which I had scrawled in “washer and electric dryer” under the “I want to be blessed” sheet. The “I want to bless” and “I want to be blessed” sheets are a ministry of the church to connect people with others who might need something they don’t need anymore. I had just written in our request on the sheet a week ago.

Gene said, “Hey, what d'ya know? I’ve got a washer and dryer I want to get rid of.”

Faith and Lloyd said, “Well, we can connect you with the couple who needs them!”

After Sunday school, Faith and Lloyd came walking up to us with big grins on their faces. “We’ve found you a free washer and dryer!” they said.

And so, God gave us the washer and dryer we had been looking for. (Incidentally, we had looked at a similar set at a garage sale last week, and it was going for $300. We could not bear to pay that much for a used set. We only managed to talk the guy down to $275 — still way too much!)

Today, Roger and Renee from our Canadian office were down in our office and we got talking about God’s amazing provision. (Roger and Renee are a retired couple who joined GoodSeed as volunteers last year. Roger has had a successful career with the IRS, and his job has taken their family all over the nation and to many different parts of the world.) Roger said, “I gotta make a chart: On the top row, it will list ‘Places we lived in when I tried to provide’ and on the bottom row, it will say, ‘Places we lived in when we trusted God to provide.’ You compare the two and see who the better provider is!”

What a testimony to God’s goodness. How we struggle to provide for ourselves sometimes, when God has even better things in store for us!
