Evan turns ONE + photo update

It has been a busy few weeks. We wrapped up spring semester at the beginning of May and celebrated Evan's birthday, Mother's Day and some of our friends' graduations. On May 11 we started summer school--Derek is taking three classes in May and June, and I will be taking one class (my last! yay!) in July.

Evan turned one year old on Cinco de Mayo (5/5/09)! We threw a birthday bash for him, complete with safari-themed decor and cake (my first cake decoration attempt!). We are so thankful to God for Evan and his first year of life. Thanks also go to our friends for helping out with the party and for all the cool gifts! For more pictures, click here.

Blow that candle!

I'm a happy one-year-old!

On Sunday, a group of friends from church held their own birthday party for Evan, celebrating Mother's Day at the same time.

Beautiful homemade cake from Yen-Ling

Thanks so much, Sally, Diane, Yen-Ling and Evie, for the cake and gift!

That weekend we also attended the DTS graduation ceremony. Congratulations to all our friends who have graduated and are going on into ministry! God willing, next year will be our turn :)

Charles the graduate, his wife Judy, and the CSF (Chinese Student Fellowship) gang

Matthew, Sijie and their little Hudson will be heading back to Singapore soon and then on to China to work with Campus Crusade. We'll miss you guys!

At the end of April we took a trip to Ennis (45 minutes from Dallas), where we got some great shots with Texas bluebonnets. Check out the pictures here.

Thank you for your prayers for my insomnia. It is getting better but there are still some rough days. Please continue to pray for our health and our studies, as well as for wisdom as parents. We will update you soon on our plans for later this summer and our long-term plans.
