An update (finally!)

Summer '07

This summer flew by before we knew it. We traveled to Israel and Jordan for a school field study class and then to Hong Kong and Taiwan to visit family (and to attend grandpa's 90th birthday party and a cousin's wedding reception). Praise God for safe travels and wonderful times of learning and fellowship.

After coming back in July, Derek took two summer classes; I worked and took one summer class. Those summer classes are intense! They pack a whole semester's work into just one week After wrapping things up and turning in our assignments, it was already time for fall classes to begin.

Fall '07

We are into our second week of school, and both school and work seem daunting already. This semester, besides taking full-time classes, Derek is working as a translator for a local ministry and as a grader for an entry-level class. I am also taking full-time classes, working at my law firm job and as a grader for the same class. Despite our crazy schedules, we are thankful that God has given us the opportunity to study here. We are enjoying our classes and pray that we would be faithful to do what we have been called to do here! Please pray for continued joy and strength this semester.

Ministry

The outreach ministry with our church is going well. Since starting our "English discussion group" with University of Texas at Arlington international students, we have become fast friends with most in the group and have been able to share what the Christian faith is about. A few are even coming to church with us every week.

This summer, we finished a Stranger study with two graduate students from Taiwan, J and S. They came with the sincere desire to learn and were hungry for truth. Although they have not yet made the decision to believe in Christ, they know that they are accountable for the information they now have. PRAY that they would make that decision to believe and be saved.

Next week we start our English group again with new students from UTA. Pray that they would be open and receptive to the Gospel and that God's Spirit would work in our midst!

Old and new friends

This semester, we welcome our dear friend and sister Karen Wong to DTS. Karen (originally from Hong Kong) is a friend from college and shares the same burden for missions and ministry. We are so excited that she's here with us. We thank God for providing for her to come to DTS to study toward an M.A. in Cross-Cultural Ministry!

We also welcome Jean Yoon, Peter and Elaine Yoon's newest addition to their family. Jean was born 10 days after due date, on the first day of school! Dayne, 2.5, is now an older brother who helps his mom around the house with the baby. We are so happy for our friends Peter and Elaine.
